Obligatory first post

Hi there,

I’m Jason and have been working on UNIX systems for a few years now.

My first taste was on a Digital (DEC) Vax Cluster, then a Pyramid, a Sun Microsystems 1 series and Sun 3/60, Sequent Symmetry running Dynix (BSD) before wasting many an hour in the Computer Science lab hacking away on a bunch of SPARCstation IPC workstations.
And I’ve been hacking away ever since.

Whilst I grew up with BSD style UNIX (Dynix and SunOS 4) I moved to SYSV UNIX when the industry was after something more grown up (Dynix/PTX and then Solaris aka SunOS 5).

Having just spent the last 14 years improving my Solaris knowledge at Sun Microsystems  fixing customer problems and having a fun time, I figured it was about time to start a blog and keep a record of some interesting things I’ve learned.

Here’s looking forward to the new journey.
